Economic Impact of Kentucky Independent Colleges

The Association of Independent Kentucky Colleges and Universities (AIKCU) completed an economic impact study estimating financial benefits the state derived from the member institutions.  AIKCU indicates that the member institutions add $617 million to Kentucky's GDP each year as they serve 36,000 students.  The study uses FY 2012 data.

There is also a link in the AUKCU post to an earlier and more extensive study completed in 2006 for interested readers. I would be interested if you know other studies looking at the economic impact of small colleges...consider leaving a comment or sending an email.

I added enrollment numbers to the data for salary and employees from the AIKCU study in the table that follows.  It is interesting that the mean enrollment is less than 1,800 students with five of the institutions enrolling less than 1,000 students:  Alice Lloyd College, Brescia University, Kentucky Christian University, Kentucky Wesleyan College, and Saint Catharine College.
