Will Jones, president of Bethany College announced a new Swedes-to-Sweden program for first time students entering the institution in fall 2018. The program builds on historical ties with Sweden arising from early immigrants who helped found Bethany and nurtured it over the years. The programs also strengthens the institution's commitment to service and should positively impact student recruitment and retention. Bethany students will be eligible
for a seven to 10-day service-learning trip to Sweden at the completion of
their sophomore year with no additional cost.
Jones also noted, “It is great to be a Bethany Swede! Over the past 12 months, we have welcomed the largest freshman class in the history of the college, completed a strategic planning process, received the largest single gift in the history of the college, achieved reaffirmation of our accreditation, and closed on a loan from the USDA to purchase New Hall and refinance our existing debt."
Bethany College is located in Lindsborg, KS and was founded in 1881 by Swedish Lutheran immigrants. Enrollment is just over 700 students.
