A Faculty Member Reflects on Experience Teaching for Dowling College & Southamption College
I am catching up a bit after several weeks of vacation and just read an interesting column, "Dowling College: a sad event in the history of higher education in Suffolk," written by Karl Grossman for publication by RiverheadLOCAL on June 13, 2016. Grossman is a reporter who offers a unique personal perspective on the history of several institutions that operated in Suffolk County, New York. He taught briefly for Dowling College and for more than two decades at Southamption College. His comments highlight the personal attention the institutions were able to offer their students. Grossman also notes that community interests played a role in the formation of the institutions.
